How much food can my dog eat?
One of the most frequently asked questions among dog owners is: “How much food can my dog eat?” At PAWR, we understand how crucial it is to feed your furry friend the right portion. That's why we've created specific daily nutritional guidelines to ensure your dog gets the perfect portion of PAWR dog food. The detailed daily nutritional guidelines for each PAWR product are listed below.
You will find specific daily nutritional instructions on all our products. For example, if you have a 5 kilo dog, the recommended daily amount is 105 grams of PAWR with 105 ml of water. Adding water to PAWR is not mandatory. In general, dog owners feed their pets an average of twice a day. If this also applies to you, divide the indicated amount of dog food and water by two. This way you ensure that your dog is optimally fed, tailored to his individual needs.
Every dog is unique
However, it is important to realize that every animal is unique and has different needs. For overweight dogs, on the advice of our nutritionist Fia, we recommend reducing 10% of the average nutritional value.
Active dog
An active dog, for example for dogs that participate in sporting activities such as IGP and Obedience, an adjusted feeding amount is important. Give your active dog an extra boost of 10% on top of the normal nutritional value.
Senior
Did you know that many older dogs can suffer from osteoarthritis? This is an annoying and painful inflammation due to wear and tear in the joints. This causes a dog to have pain when walking and movement becomes increasingly difficult. If you can prevent your older dog from being overweight and maintaining a good weight, the risk of osteoarthritis is significantly reduced. To provide your older four-legged friend with extra care, you can consider giving softer kibble . That is a bit easier to bite away than a rock-hard chunk, especially because an older dog's teeth are often less strong. PAWR can be added with hot water to make the texture smoother , which also promotes hydration . This also hydrates the dog at the same time. Older dogs may develop a less shiny coat, but plant-based dog food is known for improving a shiny coat.
Feed calculator and feeding guide
At PAWR we take your dog's health seriously, which is why we also have a handy food calculator and feeding guide available. These tools help you accurately determine the ideal nutrition for your specific situation. This way you can be sure that your dog receives the food that perfectly suits his lifestyle and health.
For example, if your dog weighs 12 kg, you use 194 grams of PAWR with 194 ml of water. Do you not understand how this was calculated? Then we will explain this to you! To calculate the amount of PAWR for a 12 kg dog in the 10-15 kg range, you can perform a simple linear interpolation. Here's how you can do that:
-
Determine the percentage of weight within the range:
- Percentage = (Dog weight - Lower limit of range) : (Upper limit of range - Lower limit of range)
-
Apply the percentage to PAWR's range:
- PAWR = Lower limit of PAWR + Percentage x (Upper limit of PAWR – Lower limit of PAWR)
In this case:
- Lower limit of the weight range: 10 kg
- Upper limit of the weight range: 15 kg
- Lower limit of PAWR: 170 grams
- Upper limit of PAWR: 230 grams
- Dog weight: 12 kg
Let's apply this
- Percentage = ((12-10):(15-10)) = 0.4
- PAWR = 170 + 0.4 x (230-170)
- 170 + 0.4 x 60 = 170 + 24 = 194 grams
So, for a 12 kg dog in the 10-15 kg range, the approximate amount of PAWR would be 194 grams.
